3 Reasons Why You Should Set Goals

Similarly to what I pointed out in my previous article, it is important to set goals that are specific. Specific goals are more likely to be accomplished due to your involvement and motivation towards the overall result.

You can set goals throughout the year, weekly aims and monthly goals work well for some people. The key is to remember what suits you, it does not matter what the people around you are doing as they will be walking a different path and moving at a different pace to you.

So what are the reasons you should set goals?

Again, three is the magic number, so I will be focusing on three reasons why you should set goals.

Goals are your map

Goals can give you motivation, they give you a direction to walk towards. In general, goals are seen as touch points in your journey, things you have to accomplish in order to move forward. Having them written down, make them sink and become permanent. You know what you are aiming to do, what you are moving towards.

They motivate you

When you have something in your mind that you want to accomplish, it gives you a direction to move in overall. You want to move forward to accomplish this goal. Setting goals can motivate you to move outside of your comfort zone, try new things and overcome obstacles, purely to accomplish your overall goal.

During your journey to accomplish your goal, you might reach a brick wall, hurdles that can seem impenetrable. This is why motivation from within is important, at times when you face a barrier you need to be able to motivate yourself to overcome them and keep going.

Overwhelming

In business, we all at some point feel overwhelmed. Maybe you have had a tough week in the office, or had a difficult job to do. That is why it is important to have a goal. A goal is something you can go back to when you feel overwhelmed, to show you why you are doing what you are doing. It can remind you what you are aiming for, and therefore can help you feel less overwhelmed.

In life you will face many challenges, so goals can give you something to aim for, something that reminds you why what you are doing is all worthwhile.

Do your goals give you a sense of direction?

Do they motivate you to be more, to do more?

Share your goals either in the comment section, or even in my Facebook community. I am here to walk with you on your journey, and we could even set goals together.

Wishing you growth and happiness,
Nyasha
